Per guidance from Governor of the State of California, the Roads and Airports Department offices will remain closed to the public until further notice.  We are open for business providing limited services.  Services contact information are listed below. 

Mission Statement

The mission of the Roads and Airports Department is to preserve, operate, and enhance the County's expressways, unincorporated roads, and two general aviation airports in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the traveling public.

The County's Roads Administration operates and maintains  62 miles of expressway and 635 miles of rural and urban roadways in unincorporated areas,  including 23 miles of sound walls,  168 bridges,  39 miles of carpool lanes,  164 signalized intersections,  4,500 street lights,  25,000 regulatory signs,  and 2,185 drain inlets.

The Roads and Airports Administration office is closed to the public until further notice, however we do have staff available to answer phone calls on a limited basis.

The Roads and Airports Road and Signal Division Offices at Schallenberger, Doyle, Mt. Hamilton and Murphy will be closed to the public until further notice. 

  • Engineering, Maintenance, Traffic Signal Services will continue to be provided, however it may be on a limited basis.
  • Phone service and deliveries are available Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
  • To report any road, traffic signal or other issues on County roadways, please use the  online reporting tool  
  • If you have an emergency, please call 911

The Reid-Hillview Airport and San Martin Airport offices are closed to the public but the airports are open and operational.  Phone service is available on a limited basis 408-918-7700  or  you can email [email protected]
